Does any of this sound familiar?

So you have a son or daughter who is a student and sometimes you’re not sure they’re on top of things, and not sure how to help?  They:

  • seem unsure of what homework needs to be completed and when it is due
  • image of daughter at a desk being watched by her mum at the door
  • they are struggling with getting the marks they are capable of in tests or exams
  • seem overwhelmed, get anxious and not sure where to start?
  • struggle with time and the management of a student planner/diary or don't use anything at all
  • works late until the night before in order to complete a task
  • sometimes or regularly miss project/assignment deadlines
  • don’t appear to understand the difference between homework and study/revision
  • are irritable, snappy and stressed or quiet and withdrawn
  • have a cluttered and disorganised desk or bedroom
  • have a school bag or locker full of ‘stuff’, the contents of which is largely unknown to them or anyone else
  • have piles of papers and notes that don't appear to be organised in anyway
  • spend a lot of time looking for information
  • get distracted easily and/or procrastinate
  • tell you that you nag too much and to leave them alone they have it in hand.

Academic Life Coaching

Organising Students is about equipping students with simple and effective tools & strategies in organisation, time management and study skills which are key to their success and enjoyment at school and in life.

We work individually with students to develop a personal organisational approach that will work for them and help them take responsibility for their school work, activities and time. Each student is unique and our program is tailored to the individual needs of the student – there is no one size fits all approach!

As an Academic Life Coach, and also commonly referred to as an Executive Function Coach, Amanda, asks students questions to assess what they do and don’t know rather than jumping right in and solving the “problem”. Often they know more than they realise and its about building up their tool box with the right tools and strategies to suit them.  The end goal is ensuring they can be in charge of their own learning and take control.

Most students have an inherent desire to learn and succeed and these programs are designed for those who are ready to improve themselves but simply don’t know how to go about it. Organising Students also coaches & supports parents and conducts workshops/webinars for students, parents and teachers in & outside of the school environment.

Let’s celebrate different minds

In March 2022 Neurodiversity Celebration Week was celebrated worldwide – this initiative challenges stereotypes and misconceptions about neurological differences.  It aims to transform how neurodivergent individuals are perceived and supported by providing schools, universities, and organisations with the opportunity to recognise the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent, while […]

Top 3 note taking tips for students

Note taking has become a bit of a focus for many right now.  In my experience it is a skill or tool that many students over the past few years (as a result of lockdowns and remote learning) struggled with or just didn’t do unless asked.  Therefore the purpose of […]

Testimonials

“One of my contractors told me about Amanda and her services and raved about her. I asked for her number because I could see how incredibly useful she could be to me and my business. But she turned out to be much more! A truly multi-dimensional woman, who has so many different skills sets. She has been invaluable to me, both with my business and with my family. Not only did she assist with developing systems and processes for my business, she has also started working 1:1 with my secondary school aged children. With my twins in the process of completing Year 11, Amanda quickly identified the key areas of time management, organisation and study skills they could benefit from learning. She is now working with them to equip them with the all the necessary tools and strategies to set them on a path for success both academically and for life. I cannot recommend Amanda more highly and look forward to working with her for a long time to come.”

“Thanks for organising Amanda to speak to us last night. We found it really informative and picked up some great tips, particularly about getting organised! Our son came home full of ideas and enthusiasm too.”

Feedback from a parent who recently attended one of the many parent sessions on supporting Year 6 students on the journey from primary to secondary school that I have been running.
