Ingrid Laguna joined the Organising Students team in April 2025 – here’s 10 facts about Ingrid that you might be interested to learn!
- As a writer, I have learnt the value of perseverance. Talent alone won’t get anyone to the end of the manuscript. You have to keep turning up at the page, even when you doubt yourself. I think this applies to all skills we want to improve. There are no shortcuts but if you keep practicing you can’t help but make progress!
- I have an eighteen-year-old daughter who is in year 12 doing VCE. When I ask her who she loves more – her dog Tuko (lab crossed with border collie) or me, she says, ‘Don’t make me answer that, Mum.’
- Two of the things I love most in the world are laughing and dancing. I dance while my partner makes dinner most nights and I’m usually the first onto any dance floor. I’m not shy! When someone tells me a funny joke I ask them to ‘do it again’ just so I can have another big laugh.
- If motorbikes weren’t so dangerous, I would ride a Ducati.
- I can make an amazing chocolate, date and almond meringue torte!
- I find working with students genuinely rewarding. Connecting with young people and making a positive difference in their lives is a privilege and a joy.
- I’m studying a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Very exciting!
- I’m enthusiastic by nature. I still have a school report from primary school that says, ‘Ingrid needs to learn to contain her natural exuberance.’ I never did follow that advice.
- My next book to be released is called EDIE TELLS A LIE and it’s inspired by the true story of a fascinating Polish woman (my Dad’s Polish) who lived in a remote forest in Poland for thirty years and shared her hut with a wild boar, a lynx and a wayward crow!
- I think the most helpful quality I can support students to learn is self-belief. I also hope to inspire them to want to learn and to experience personal success.
